| There are literally thousands of miles
of OHV routes within Inyo and Mono counties. These Counties cover the
Mammoth area, the Owens Valley, the Inyo/White Mountains, the Panamint
Valley, and Death Valley.
Almost none of these open routes are signed, other
than a mountain bike map of the Mammoth area there are not any good maps
of the open routes, and because there are so many routes it is very
difficult to plan a fun interesting ride. It is impossible to organize a
group ride without it just being follow the leader in a dust fest.
This site documents interesting OHV routes, most
of which are loops back to where you started. Each route is shown on a
color Topo map that you can print. There is also a Dual Sport type Roll
Chart for each route. In order to create a usable Roll Chart, you must
print the pages of the chart, then cut each page into the marked columns
(2 1/4 inches wide), then tape the ends of the pieces into one long Roll
Chart. You can then navigate the route by just following the chart just
like in a Dual Sport ride. Of course, you will need a Roll Chart Holder,
which is available at most cycle shops.
