Trail Maps

There are literally thousands of miles of OHV routes within Inyo and Mono counties. These Counties cover the Mammoth area, the Owens Valley, the Inyo/White Mountains, the Panamint Valley, and Death Valley.

Almost none of these open routes are signed, other than a mountain bike map of the Mammoth area there are not any good maps of the open routes, and because there are so many routes it is very difficult to plan a fun interesting ride. It is impossible to organize a group ride without it just being follow the leader in a dust fest.

This site documents interesting OHV routes, most of which are loops back to where you started. Each route is shown on a color Topo map that you can print. There is also a Dual Sport type Roll Chart for each route. In order to create a usable Roll Chart, you must print the pages of the chart, then cut each page into the marked columns (2 1/4 inches wide), then tape the ends of the pieces into one long Roll Chart. You can then navigate the route by just following the chart just like in a Dual Sport ride. Of course, you will need a Roll Chart Holder, which is available at most cycle shops.

Maps & Roll Charts
All Maps and Roll Charts are in Adobe .pdf file format.
You will need the newest version of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print them. Click the image if you don't already have it installed on you computer.

Mapsource files
If you have a Garmin GPS unit and have Mapsource software, you can download the file for each ride to your home computer, then use the Mapsource download feature to download the tracks to your GPS unit, then either just follow the track on the scene or use the Trackback feature of your GPS to get navigation turn arrows. It is best to turn maps off and zoom in to less than 0.2 Mi.
