There are four loops in the Mammoth area, two on the east side of
Highway 395 and two on the west side. There are also short connector
trails between each pair of adjacent loops so that you can ride half of
one loop, cut across to the adjacent loop, rode all of it, cut back
across to the first loop, then ride the rest of it back to the starting
point. You can also ride half of one loop, cut across the adjacent loop,
ride half of it, cut across the next adjacent loop, ride half of it, cut
across the last adjacent loop, ride half of it back to the start. The
Roll Chart for each loop indicates where the cut across trail leaves or
joins so you can easily cut and tape Roll Chart pieces to also make a
two, three, or four loop ride.
The two loops on the east side of 395 are
partially marked by the forest service but because they did not utilize
the best routes, the Roll Charts will occasionally deviate from the
marked route then return to it using the most fun route available.
